
President of Tunisia Beji Caid Essebsi has met with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, who is currently visiting Tunisia.
During the meeting, President Essebsi confirmed his country's determination to proceed with the consecration of human rights, stressing that the option is irreversible, although there are some difficulties.
For his part, the High Commissioner expressed UN's appreciation for Tunisia's achievements in building a democratic state, stressing the determination of the international organization to support Tunisia in respect of its democratic path.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had met earlier with Tunisian Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche and reviewed with him a number of issues relating to human rights and freedoms in Tunisia.
