Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali met Saturday with EU Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis to post him on policies to achieve social protection and reduce poverty.
Egypt respects human rights principles, Wali stressed during the meeting.
She said Cairo is keen on maintaining a real strategic partnership with the EU.
Egypt, Wali added, is fighting a fierce war against terrorism amid unstable regional conditions.
Achieving development hinges on stability and security, the minister said, adding that this could be done with the support of friends and partners of the Egyptian people.
Lambrinidis was pleased with efforts exerted by Egypt to fight terrorism.
He stressed the EU's keenness on enhancing bilateral relations with Cairo and maintaining dialogue on issues of mutual concern.
