Sudan’s President Omar Al Bashir and his Southern Sudan counterpart Omar Salva Kiir will meet on September 22, the Co-Chairman of Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC), Luka Biong said. Biong said in a statement to (AlSahafa) Sudanese newspaper published today that the President of the African high-level Panel Thabo Mbeki will present at the summit a proposal for the final solution to the issue of Abyei in case the parties have not reached an agreement before then. Biong added that Al-Bashir-Salva Kiir summit aims to push negotiations on all outstanding issues for the final stages. He denied that the neighboring Sudan and South Sudan have reached any agreement about a referendum on Abyei by the end of this year.
