China on Monday condemned terrorist attacks in Turkey and Egypt that caused heavy casualties over the weekend.
Twin bombings occurred outside a football stadium late Saturday in central Istanbul in Turkey, killing at least 39 people and injuring 155 others. In Cairo, an explosion at the Coptic Cathedral took the lives of at least 25 and injured 49 others on Sunday.
"China strongly condemns the terrorist attacks and extends deep sympathies to the families of the victims and the injured," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular news briefing.
China opposes all forms of terrorism and will staunchly support relevant countries in maintaining national security and stability and fighting terrorism, Geng said.
