China has reiterated its support for the legitimate government in Yemen in its reaction to the formation of a new Yemeni government by the Houthi militants.
Yemen's armed Houthi movement formed a new government, called "National Salvation Government" in alliance with former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in an official statement that it does not agree on any unilateral action by any party in Yemen which would complicate conditions there.
"We do not approve of any side in Yemen taking any unilateral action that complicates the situation, and believe this is not beneficial to a political solution of the Yemen issue," the ministry said in the statement.
China hopes relevant parties in Yemen continue dialogue to resolve the differences and reach an equitable settlement all sides can accept on the basis of United Nations resolutions and Gulf Cooperation Council initiatives, it added.
