Costa Concordia: Search resumes for survivors

Rescue efforts have resumed aboard the wrecked Italian cruise ship, Costa Concordia, off the coast of Tuscany. Operations were suspended on Wednesday as the vessel shifted its position. More than 20 people are still missing. Italian firefighters have told Reuters news agency there is a window of 12 to 24 hours to complete the rescue. Salvage operators have been standing by to start work on the ship. The vessel ran aground Friday with 4,200 on board, killing at least 11. Filippo Marini, a coastguard spokesman, said the ship had now stabilised. "The tests during the night were positive and we have divers going down now," Mr Marini told reporters, AFP news agency says. "We will then use the micro-explosives to open more holes. They will enter inside the ship and search for more people." On Wednesday, the ship's captain, Francesco Schettino, admitted making a navigation mistake, Italian media reported.
