
Egyptian Ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel Ati had talks on Wednesday with Chairperson of the Bundestag Committee on Tourism Heike Brehmer on means of enhancing Egyptian-German cooperation in the tourism domain.
During the meeting, Abdel Ati highlighted the importance of resuming direct charter flights to Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh.
A large number of tourists, especially from Europe, is expected to flow to Egypt in the winter, he said, noting that there are more than 110 weekly flights from Germany to various Egyptian cities.
He added that the Tourism Ministry had launched a tourism promotion campaign in Germany.
Brehmer said she and the committee members want to visit Egypt in view of its importance in the tourism sector in addition to its role in realizing stability in the Middle East, especially through combating terror and illegal immigration.
Brehmer said she is looking to visiting the Egyptian pavilion at ITB Berlin - the World's Leading Travel Trade Show - slated for March and meeting the Egyptian tourism minister.
