Gunfire exchanged along Gaza border

Israeli soldiers fired into the Gaza Strip on Thursday after earlier reports said gunfire from the coastal enclave had targeted an Israeli farmer. "Terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired at an Israeli farmer and damaged a tractor near the Nir Oz kibbutz," an Israeli army spokesman said. No injuries were reported. Local witnesses said Israeli forces responded by firing heavily at land used by farmers, causing a fire to break out. Israel's army said it fired warning shots into open areas in response to the gunfire.
