Kenyan Ambassador to Tehran Ruqyah Ahmad Sabu has been called to the Iranian foreign ministry to explain about the detention of two Iranians in Kenya, ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi was quoted by Iranian news agency Fars as saying.
"The Kenyan ambassador has been summoned to the Iranian foreign ministry on Thursday to explain about the arrest of the Iranian nationals in her country," Qassemi said.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said that the two Iranians, namely Abdolhossein Safayee and Seyed Nasrollah Ebrahimi - who are lawyers and university instructors - are now in Nairobi as lawyers of the families of two Iranian prisoners in Kenya to probe into the case of the inmates and provide them with legal advice.
"The two Iranians were questioned by police out of misunderstanding as they returned after a meeting with the prisoners on Tuesday. They were, however, released after measures taken in that connection and removal of misunderstanding," Qassemi added.
