Iraq officially recognizes Libyan national transitional council

Iraq on Wednesday officially announced it recognition of Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC) as a sole and legitimate representative of the people of Libya. An official Iraqi source told Petra’s correspondent in Baghdad that Iraq saw it appropriate to recognize the NTC out of its conviction that a new era will prevail in Libya after the departure of Gadhafi regime. Iraqi Council of Representatives Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi called in a congratulatory cable, sent to Chairman of the NTC Mustafa Abdul Jalil, for renouncing the culture of revenge and bloodshed, spreading peace and security and rejecting deployment of foreign troops in Libya.
