Israeli opposition lawmaker Nachman Shai on Saturday called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman to present an explanatory report to the Knesset on reports claiming that Iran holds shares in a German company that sold submarines to Israel.
In a statement, quoted by Israeli media, Shai, who also serves as the Knesset Deputy Speaker, said the Israeli public have the right to get clarification with regard to the recent submarine deal, worth six billion shekels, financed by the Israeli taxpayers.
He wondered if Iran shares secrets of the Israeli combat systems that may target it.
According to an Israeli news report, an Iranian government company has about five percent stake in ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the German submarine company involved in a controversy over a recent weapons deal with Israel.
