An official reception ceremony for Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was held on Monday outside the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon.
The Egyptian and Portuguese national anthems were played during the reception ceremony.
President Sisi was received with a 21-gun salute.
President Sisi is scheduled to hold key talks with his Portuguese counterpart Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on ways of boosting bilateral ties, combating terrorism and illegal migration.
The talks will also tackle the latest developments in the Middle East.
Sisi arrived Sunday in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on the first official visit hosted in the country following the inauguration of Marcelo De Souza as president in March. It is also the first visit by an Egyptian president to Portugal in 24 years.
