The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday declared the US-led drone strikes on Pakistani territory illegal and ordered the Government of Pakistan to compensate the victims of drone strikes. The Chief Justice of PHC, Dost Mohammad, announced his decision over the petition submitted by lawyer of a political party S. M Zafar and said that drone attacks equal to war crimes. The attacks were violating human rights and were against the United Nations' charter, the court remarked. The court in a detailed judgment, directed the government to take necessary measures to stop drone strikes that are violating Pakistan's sovereignty. The court ordered the Interior Ministry to file a resolution with the United Nation's Human Rights Commission and the ties with US is severed if US vetoes the resolution.
