A Pakistani peacekeeper was killed when his convoy was ambushed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), dpa cited local media reports as saying, on Wednesday. A convoy of the UN Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) had been ambushed in South Kivu province by armed men late on Tuesday, Biliaminou Alao, the regional spokesman of MONUSCO told Kinshasa-based Radio Okapi. "A dozen men had barricaded the road and there were exchanges of gunfire between soldiers of MONUSCO and this group of unidentified individuals," said Alao. The soldier died at a MONUSCO hospital in the north-eastern town of Bukavu, Alao said.
