A senior Hezbollah official challenged Monday Lebanese groups opposing the party’s defense strategy to use their ties with the U.S. to protect Lebanon’s airspace against Israeli violations. “What is preventing those who reject the [defense] strategy of the resistance from proving the usefulness of their strategy?” asked Sheikh Nabil Qawouk, the deputy head of Hezbollah’s executive council. “Did you dedicate your friendship with the U.S. and resort to political and diplomatic means to protect Lebanon’s skies from Israeli jets that violate it on a daily basis?” Qawouk asked during a ceremony to mark Jerusalem Day and what the party dubs its victory against Israel in the summer 2006 war. “Our partners in the country who still wager on political means to protect the nation and sovereignty say the borders of the Shebaa Farms and the Kfar Shuba hills should be demarcated [to facilitate its liberation],” he said. “We ask does Lebanon’s airspace need to be demarcated as well?” From dailystar
