Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for talks on the conflict in Syria and other issues, ISNA news agency reported. Russia's foreign ministry said Lavrov would devote "particular attention to preparations" for a meeting in Moscow next week between Iran and world powers focused on Tehran's disputed nuclear program. Russian news agencies also said Lavrov would discuss "the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, with the emphasis on the current transformation processes taking place in the Arab world and Syria." Lavrov was to see his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Salehi, and Iran's lead negotiator in the talks with world powers, Saeed Jalili, according to officials.
