Thousand of Spaniards protest on anniversary of 'Los Indignados'

Spain's "Los Indignados", or the Indignant Ones, were back at the country's squares on Sunday on the second anniversary of their grassroots movement to protest the government and its policies amid a crippling financial crisis. Thousands of demonstrators -- mostly the youngsters -- gathered at Madrid's main square La Puerta del Sol, and in more than 20 cities, calling the conservative government's economy policy and called it to resign. Two years ago on May 15, La Puerta del Sol was occupied by Los Indignados who for weeks refused to leave a tent camp they set up at the square, inspiring sit-in demonstration elsewhere in Europe and in the United States. Their movement has been dubbed M15 since then.     Almost five million Spaniards were registered as unemployed last month. The country has the second highest jobless rate in the European Union.
