
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, on Monday hosted a workshop on ‘Implementing the Business Continuity Management Programme in Emergencies’, for the purpose of ensuring business continuity in the Information and Communications Technology, ICT, sector, in situations of emergency and crisis.
The workshop saw the attendance of ICT sector operators in addition to nominees from the local emergency and crisis response centres in each emirate, and its agenda included many important topics, such as providing a comprehensive and detailed overview on the business continuity management standard, National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority "NCEMA 7000" ,AE/SCNS/NCEMA 7000:2015, in addition to the ISO specifications 22301 accredited in this field.
The workshop also included a review of the implementation methodology of the Business Continuity Management Programme, followed by practical training on implementing this method in institutions.
Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Acting Director General of TRA, said, "Various sectors in the country, including the telecom sector, is witnessing accelerated growth rates associated with increased dependency on technology and smart services. This requires preparation and constant readiness in terms of having comprehensive plans to respond to crises and emergencies effectively and efficiently to ensure business continuity and maintain the highest degree of efficiency in implementation. It is a part of the vision of the wise leadership aiming at enhancing the competitive position of the country, through accelerating achievement rates and enhancing the international business community confidence which considers the UAE as an attraction for investments from around the globe."
