The Turkish army began a 10-day military exercise Monday near the Syrian border, the Turkish General Staff said. The military drill dubbed "Yildirim-2013 Mobilization Exercise," was previously scheduled and will take place in Adana province near Hatay, which borders Syria, the Hurriyet Daily News said. The aim of the exercise is to test the army's mobilization system and coordination between public institutions and the armed forces, a military statement said. The air force's 10th Tanker Base command will conduct the exercise, the newspaper said, adding the same command runs the Incirlik Air Base, a Turkish air force instillation in Adana.
