
The UAE-Japan Friendship Committee for Women Career Development concluded its session with its 4th meeting held in Tokyo between 20th and 25th November.
The event, titled "Growth Sustainability of Petroleum Sector and Innovation in Developing Women Leadership" was attended by about 170 women leaders and staff of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP), Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO), among others.
They approved the agenda of the committee and were briefed on the initiatives and visions launched during workshops and previous forums as well as the most important recommendations which would contribute to empowering women and supporting their career development in the oil and gas sector.
The event was organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and also honorary chair of the committee.
During the opening session of the forum, Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Adviser to the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and founding member of the committee, welcomed the participants and conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Fatima and her best wishes and success for them.
She also highlighted the efforts exerted by ADNOC in implementation of the directives and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to empower women in the oil and gas sector and the follow up and attention of Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of the ADNOC Group, which looks forward to developing these efforts and sets an agenda seeking to promote the status of women and enhancing their role in economic development.
She hailed women leaderships and staff of ADNOC and JCCP for participating in the forum and provision of efforts which would contribute to achieving the committee's strategic objectives in providing their innovations to develop the building process in the oil and gas sector in the two countries.
In conclusion, Maytha Al Shamsi also extended thanks and appreciation to Dr. Sultan Al Jaber for his support to the committee and facilitating its missions.
The meeting was attended by members of the founding committee including, Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, CEO of Al Yasat Petroleum Operations Company and ADIPEC 2016 Chairman, and Tsuyoshi Nakai Chief Executive Officer, Japan Corporation Centre, Petroleum, JCCP.
