
The UAE was re-elected member of the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission, IHFFC, during the Committee’s diplomatic meeting held here yesterday.
The UAE joined Bern-based IHFFC on 6th March, 1992.
Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Al Kamali, representative of the UAE and Deputy Chairman of the Commission, got 53 votes, followed by the Algerian candidate who got 50 votes and the Qatari representative who got 44 votes.
The newly formed 15-member Commission has been elected for a term of five years and will start functioning when it holds its first annual meeting, scheduled to take place from 20th to 22nd February, 2017, in Geneva.
