Advocate-General and Chief Prosecutor of the Terror Crimes Prosecution Ahmed Al-Hammadi has affirmed that investigation into the case of the terror group comprising 17 members has been completed.
He said the members had agreed to set up a terror cell to make explosives and weapons to carry out terror acts, target security forces in order to prevent them from assuming their duties, and spread panic among people.
Two defendants, who are outside the country, have provided funds for the cell, while another takes video footage of the terror incidents and promotes them through media networks, he said.
Al-Hammadi added the group had carried out many bombings in Maqaba, Al-Janabiya, Buadaiya and Qarya regions, resulting in injuries among the security personnel.
He added that investigations had led to identifying the suspects and to the arrest of eight people and that one of them provided information that led to the discovery of the site where explosives, weapons and the materials used in manufacturing them were stored.
An automatic weapon (Kalashnikov) was also seized, he said.
The Advocate-General explained that the Prosecution had charged the defendants with the formation of a terror group, attempted murder, possession and acquisition of weapons, ammunition and explosives and using them without a licence, and deliberate arson and damage.
He confirmed that all those crimes had been carried out for terrorist purposes.
The Prosecution ordered to refer the eight defendants to the Third High Criminal Court and demanded the arrest of the rest.
