Four Bahrainis were killed yesterday evening (Friday) in a horror crash in Al-Jamoum Governorate in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia.
The victims who come from two Bahraini families were travelling back home in the same car after performing the Omra (small pilgrimage), Bahrain General-Consul in Jeddah Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Meselmani said.
Abdulmajid Adam Khater was driving the car on Makkah-Al-Jamoum Highway and heading to Bahrain when he lost control of the vehicle as one of the front wheels burst.
Mr. Khater, 62, died on the spot, along with his wife Faiza Abdulla Mohammed Suleiman (60) and son Ala’eddine (31), while Mohammed Salah Karam, who was travelling with them, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital despite last-ditch attempts to resuscitate him and save his life.
Sami Mohammed Sirajeddine and Ahmed Al-Douma Abdulmajid, 14, are reportedly in a quasi-stable condition, while Manal Mohammed Al-Khair Fadhl, 42, is still undergoing treatment.
General-Consul Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Meselmani thanke to the relevant Saudi authorities for their rapid response and follow-up in the aftermath of the tragic accident.
In a statement today, he extended sincere condolences to the victims’ bereaved families, wishing the injured quick recovery.
