
The cabinet, in its weekly meeting at Seif Palace Monday, extolled the speech delivered recently by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the opening of the third regular session of the 14th legislative term of the parliament.
"His Highness the Amir's directives, outlined in the speech, aim at enhancing national unity and achieving the interests of the homeland and citizens," said Minister of Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah in a press briefing following the cabinet meeting, headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
"It also aims to help Kuwait achieve progress and prominence." The cabinet acclaimed His Highness the Amir's accurate diagonse of the unstable situation in the Arab region as well as the challenges and obstacles impeding reforms.
The ministers also discussed how to put into effect the contents of His Highness the Prime Minister's speech which tackled the government's plan, main objectives and philosophy of work in the coming stage.
They underscored the importance of cooperation between the legislative and executive powers to meet the aspirations of the people and achieve the state's higher interests.
Upon a proposal from Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah, the cabinet endorsed a draft decree to promote Major General Abdullah Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to be a Lieutenant General and appointing him as a Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army.
The cabinet reviewed two draft laws on amending law No. 15 of 2014 of the public authority for roads and land transport and on allowing the state of Kuwait to subscribe in the capital-increase of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa. The two bills were approved and referred to His Highness the Amir to refer them to the National Assembly.
The cabinet thoroughly reviewed the State Audit Bureau's report on the final statements of the fiscal year 2013/2014. The ministers lauded the State Audit Bureau's report and instructed all relevant bodies to take into consideration the bureau's comments and recommendations about the performance of each body.
Earlier, the ministers were briefed about a letter addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from President of Comoro Islands Ikililou Dhoinine. The letter focused on bilateral relations and means to strengthen them in all domains.
Then the ministers mulled the main issues on the agenda of the coming National Assembly sessions.
They also debated the latest regional and international political developments.
