Egyptian Ambassador in Sanaa Yousef al-Sharkawy met on Friday the Egyptian fishermen who were held earlier by Yemeni authorities for entering the territorial waters illegally for fishing on board three boats.
The Egyptian Embassy in Sanaa with Yemeni authorities succeeded in releasing the 66 Egyptian fishermen and moved them to the Yemeni capital to be deported back home, Sharkawy told MENA.
The first batch is expected to travel by EgyptAir to Egypt on Sunday or Monday, Sharkawy further said.
Earlier, Sharkawy intervened to make the Yemeni Court of Public Funds release the fishermen.
