The Evangelical Church is working in favor of Egyptians, new head of the Evangelical denomination Bishop Andrea Zaki said on Friday.
Zaki won 18 correct votes of members of the General Evangelical Council during elections that took place earlier in the day.
In statements to MENA, Zaki said that there are many issues topping his priority, such as the unified law on places of worship and the personal status law for non-Muslims.
Moreover, Zaki underlined that the Evangelical Church is eager to hold dialogue with other Egyptian churches as well as Islamic institutions, such as Al Azhar and the Awqaf Ministry.
He also called on Egyptians to close ranks and unite behind the Egyptian leadership at this critical stage of Egypt's history.
