
Iraqi joint forces have begun a security operation to liberate Alam district of Salahuddin province.
Security and local sources in Salahuddin said that eight Daesh militants have been killed during operations targeting the terrorist group's sites in southeast of Tikrit.
Security forces backed by tribal fighters are still advancing on gathering sites and hideouts for Daesh militants in Salahuddin province, the sources added
Daesh bombed its sites with mortars and artillery to prevent the army from entering Tikrit, the sources added.
The Iraqi army also killed three Daesh militants and destroyed two vehicles, belonging to the terrorist group, west of Tikrit.
The country's army and popular forces have, in a series of operations, started massive attacks against terrorists to liberate occupied areas, mainly Tikrit and Mosul.
