Iraqi forces managed on Tuesday to liberate three villages in Salahuddin province in northern Iraq while international coalition aircraft continued strikes on the terrorist group Daesh' sites, causing heavy material and human losses.
Anbar operation Commander Major General Qassem al Mohamedy said Iraqi planes, in cooperation with military intelligence service, targeted a vessel in al Ebra area east of Ramady killing eight fighters of the terrorist group.
Reports said Iraqi troops fought on Tuesday with Daesh extremists south of the militant-held city of Tikrit but their offensive to retake Saddam Hussein’s hometown was slowed by roadside bombs.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi two days ago presided over a meeting with security officials to follow up the operations against Daesh.
