Jordan, Iraq discuss coordination to face militant groups

King Abdullah II, of Jordan, discussed with visiting Vice President of Iraq Iyad Allawi Monday ways to bolster cooperation and coordination between the two countries in facing terrorist organizations and movements that pose a grave threat to the region.
During the meeting, King Abdullah II stressed importance to counter, besiege, and fight these groups and their radical ideology of 'Takfiris' (Muslims accusing other Muslims of apostasy), according to a statement by the Jordanian Royal Court.
He affirmed Jordan's support of Iraq in its efforts to restore security and stability.
The Jordanian Monarch also described Iraq's security and stability as a "key pillar for security and safety of the region," reiterating the Kingdom's support of all efforts toward enhancing a sense of national reconciliation and unity among the Iraqi people, as well as involvement of all segments of the Iraqi society in the political process.
The two sides also discussed latest updates on the situations in Syria, as well as a number of regional issues of joint interest.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Vice President expressed gratitude to Jordanian for backing up of his country's security and stability.
He appreciated the Kingdom's keenness on improving relations with Iraq in various fields that serve their joint interests.
