Jordan king holds talks with Palestinian President

Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on Wednesday, held talks that focused on efforts to achieve peace, the overall current developments in the region and issues of mutual concern, Petra news agency reported.
King Abdullah reiterated Jordan's support for efforts to achieve peace and resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the fourth of June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the two-state solution and the related international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He asserted that the international community should assume responsibility to intensify its support for peace efforts, leading to a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, which constitutes the core of the conflict in the region.
He also reiterated that Israel's repeated aggressions, provocative actions in Jerusalem, and targeting of the holy sites, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Al Haram Sharif, were utterly condemnable, adding that the continuation of the settlement policy will undermine all efforts to revive the peace efforts.
