Minster of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Hayel Dawood, has condemned the Israeli authorities' decision to close the gates of Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem and prevent worshippers from entering its compound.
Dawood told Petra that the severe escalation by Israel preventing Muslims from accessing the holy Aqsa compound amounted to state terror and should not be accepted.
He stressed that the Al-Aqsa is a place of worship for Muslims and should not be closed on account of any security related excuse or any other pretext.
The Minister called on the world's peace-loving countries and the Muslim world and the Arab and international organizations to help Jordan in putting pressure on the Israeli authorities to lift the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa, which is associated with the doctrine of 7.1 billion Muslims in the world.
