Board Chairman of Kuwait Boxing and Weightlifting Association Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah met Monday with Egypt's visiting South Sinai Governor General Khaled Fouda.
Following the meeting, Sheikh Fahad, also President of Kuwaiti Triathlon Committee, said that he discussed with Gen. Fouda ways to enhance sports cooperation between the two countries, affirming the depth of Kuwaiti-Egyptian sports ties.
He also extended, in a press statement, his sincere gratitude to the Egyptian guest for his personal visit and participation in Kuwait's National Days celebrations, pointing out that Gen. Fouda was one of the Egyptian military commanders who took part in the liberation of Kuwait in 1991.
Sports cooperation with South Sinai governorate, in particular, is embodied in forming Kuwaiti sports teams in boxing, weightlifting, and triathlon and sending them to the governorate's cities to train and participate in competitions, said Sheikh Fahad.
He also stressed the importance of participation in tournaments and championships held in South Sinai, especially in Sharm El-Sheikh, which is well-known for hosting a number of significant Arab and international sports events.
