Third Secretary of Kuwait at the UN, Salem Ali Bouhadida
New York - KUNA

The State of Kuwait has re-affirmed its robust support for the Palestinians' struggle for legitimate political rights, namely establishment of an independent state on their national territories with East Jerusalem as capital of this aspired state Moreover, it urges for drawing up a timetable for ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
The renewed official Kuwaiti stance was expressed by the Third Secretary of the Kuwaiti Mission at the UN, Salem Ali Bouhadida, in a statement at the UN Special Committee on Decolonization's session, held to examine a report on Israeli practices that violate rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.
Bouhadida stated, during the session, this report clearly affirms continuation of the arbitrary Israeli practices that contradict the international humanitarian law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These actions have resulted in these "rights' deterioration" and aggravated the Palestinians' hardships, thus turning their humanitarian, economic and social conditions difficult.
The State of Kuwait's address, delivered by the Third Secretary, called for releasing Palestinian detainees and prisoners, dispatching an international panel to the occupied territories for investigation and fact gathering, particularly regarding conditions in the Israeli prisons and examining Israel's abidance by international laws.
He condemned the continuing illegal and inhuman siege of Gaza Strip, which constitutes a breach of the UN Security Council's Resolution 1860 and the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention.
Bouhadida called anew on Israel to implement the UNSC resolution 497 that calls for its withdrawal from the Syrian Golan Heights, pullout to the June 4, 1967, border line and from the occupied Lebanese territories. Moreover, he renewed support for Palestine's request for full UN membership, as a step forward for realizing comprehensive and permanent settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian strife.
He lauded continuous efforts on part of the United States of America for making a breakthrough in the stalled Middle East process, "hoping that all partners in the Middle East peace process continue the efforts and coerce Israel into accepting resolutions of the international legitimacy." In conclusion, the Kuwaiti envoy affirmed necessity that the international community shoulder its responsibility, coercing Israel implement recommendations of the special commission, halt blatant breaches of the international laws and abide by the relevant UN resolutions, namely the resolutions 242, 338, 1397 and 1515, as well as implementing initiatives aimed at establishing comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East.
