
A large consignment of military weapons and ammunition was recovered by the forces of the People's National Army (ANP), at the area of Bouhanech to Texana, located in the province of Jijel (380 km west of Algiers), the ministry of National Defence said Saturday in a statement.
"As part of the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and following the efficient use of information collected in this field, a detachment of the forces of the National People's Army, under the operational area of Jijel/5th Military Region, recovered during a search operation conducted Friday, 7 November 2014 in the area of Bouhanech to Texana, a FMPK machine gun, a MAT-49 gun, two shotguns, two pump-action guns and a large quantity of ammunition for various weapons and other objects," the ministry stated.
"Besides, another detachment of the combined forces of the ANP, under the operational area of Ouargla (4th Military Region), arrested, during a reconnaissance patrol conducted on the same day near Hassi Messaoud, six individuals and seized 120 kg of drugs, a commercial vehicle, a sum of DZD 300,000 and five mobile phones, according to the same source.
