The United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed full support for Iraq in its war against the Islamic State in Iraq and levant (ISIL), which is occupying large swathes of lands in the north of the country, a government statement said Sunday.
Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE's Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, said his country was ready to provide full support for Iraq in its war against ISIL and other terrorist groups, the statement added.
Sheikh Mohammad made the remarks during a phone call with Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi.
The Iraqi leader said the common desire to boost bilateral relations and cooperation would serve the interest of the people of the two countries.
The UAE recalled its ambassador in Baghdad last June in protest of former prime minister Nouri Al-Maliki's policies.
