A police member was killed and six others injured in three separate mine explosions in Myanmar's two ethnic states in the weekend. According to Monday's official media, the first explosion occurred when a passenger bus hit a mine planted by the ethnic Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Hoinwun Bridge on Karmaing- Maubin road in Phakant township of the northernmost Kachin state. The second mine explosion took place between transformer and brick fence in front of the Mongyu police outpost at Muse 105-mile trade zone in northeastern Shan state, while the third mine explosion hit a government-owned car parking in front of a planning office in Myitkyina, Kachin state, the New Light of Myanmar said. The authorities blamed the KIA for the responsibility of the incidents.
