11 militants were killed in a special operation in the capital of the North Caucasus Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, the information center of the National Anti-Terror Committee said on Sunday.
Previous reports said that ten militants who had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist organization were killed in Kabardino-Balkaria.
"According to preliminary information, 11 bandits were killed in a special operation. All of them were members of the bandit formation that had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist organization," the National Anti-Terror Committee said.
The active phase of the special operation is continuing, the committee said.
The National Anti-Terror Committee earlier received information that a group of armed people complicit in terror-related crimes was hiding in a mountainous and forest area near Nalchik.
The committee’s branch for Kabardino-Balkaria made a decision to carry out a special operation from 8 hours in the morning on Sunday.
The area where the militants were hiding was blocked by the forces of the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry.
