2 killed, 3 injured as equipment collapses at railway construction in China

Two people have been confirmed dead and three others seriously injured following an equipment collapse at a railway construction site in southern China's city of Shenzhen, local authorities said Friday. The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday at a construction site for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link in Huanggang Park, Futian district, when a reinforcing mattress collapsed and killed two operators at the scene, said a spokesman with Shenzhen's metro office. The injured persons were hospitalized, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
