At least three civilians were wounded Saturday in a suicide car bomb attack in northern outskirts of Afghan capital of Kabul, an official said.
"A terrorist driving an explosive-laden vehicle and detonated it near a running convoy in Qara Bagh district along a highway at around midday, killing himself on the spot and injuring three passersby," a security official on condition of anonymity told Xinhua, without saying, who the convoy belonged to.
"The blast took place at around midday. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. The obvious target of the attack remained unknown," the source added.
Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures.
No group has claimed responsibility yet for the attack.
In a separate incident, militants attacked a line of humanitarian trucks in northern Badakhshan province earlier on Saturday.
"The attack took place in Yawan district in the morning after armed Taliban fighters intercepted the convoy and set on fire five World Food Program (WFP) vehicles. The vehicles which were carrying wheat to the neighboring Yaftal-e-Payan district were destroyed by the attack," Ahmad Nawid Frotan, the provincial government spokesman, told Xinhua.
Several truck drivers were beaten up by the attackers, he said.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since mid April when the militant group launched its so-called annual spring offensive in different places of the militancy-plagued country which had claimed hundreds of lives including militants, security personnel and civilians.
