Six Chinese citizens were killed and several others injured as a Chinese tourist group and a Chinese business delegation encountered a road accident near Pyongyang on Saturday. Two nationals of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) also died in the accident, according to the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang, which also said some of the wounded were receiving treatment at local hospitals. An embassy emergency team led by Chinese Ambassador Liu Hongcai rushed to the scene after the accident and later visited the hospitals, it said. The Chinese Embassy said it asked the DPRK side to treat the wounded with utmost efforts and properly handle the aftermath of the accident. It also informed relevant authorities in China about the accident, which have made contacts with families of the killed and wounded Chinese citizens. Stressing its friendship with China, the DPRK side said it would try its best to attend to the wounded and handle the accident properly.
