
Six people were killed on Saturday evening when a car which was participating in a rally in the northwest of Spain ran off the road and hit a group of spectators.
The accident happened in the Rally of A Coruna at around 8 p.m. local time in a stretch of the race close to the village of Carral.
The car came off the road on a corner and hit a group of spectators who were on the roadside, killing six people, four of whom are confirmed by the Spanish Civil Guard to be women, while the other two victims are men.
At least 10 more people have been confirmed as injured and they have been evacuated to the University Hospital in La Coruna.
Civil Protection agencies have been dispatched to the area to control the situation and attend to victims and their families in a situation which witnesses have described as "chaotic" in the Spanish media.
