Landslides and floods in West Papua of eastern Indonesia have left 6 people missing and road damaged, senior official of national disaster management agency said here on Monday.
Heavy downpours had triggered landslides and flooding in Minyambouw sub-district of Pegunungan Arfak district at 4:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, Spokesman of National Disaster Management Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told Xinhua by phone.
Sutopo did not elaborate further on the effort to search the missing persons.
Roads connecting the district with Manokwari district were cut by the disasters, therefore about 1,000 families have been isolated, the spokesman said.
Assessment of the risks of the disaster is underway now as emergency relief aids have been channeled to the affected people, he said.
