Up to 67 militants have been killed amid operations by Afghan army forces within the past 24 hours, said the country's defense ministry on Sunday.
The ministry said in a statement that 34 other militants were wounded while 13 militants detained during the raids conducted by the army in 10 out of the country's 34 provinces.
The army also found and seized weapons in addition to defusing several landmines, the statement said, adding that seven army personnel were also killed as a result of enemy's heavy weapons firing and landmine attacks in different parts of the country over the same period.
The Taliban militant group, which ruled the country before they were ousted in late 2001, has yet to make comments.
