Russia says it is sending a 40-truck convoy of food and supplies to Kosovo Serbs. The 284 ton shipment includes food, blankets, power generators and furniture, Russia's emergencies ministry said Tuesday. The trucks left Moscow Wednesday morning and will take two days to reach Kosovo, RIA Novosti reported. It is the second shipment of humanitarian aid to go out to Kosovo Serbs in recent weeks. Ethnic Serbs account for as much as 10 percent of the population of Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008. The majority of Kosovo's population is ethnic Albanian. More than 20,000 Kosovo Serbs have applied for Russian citizenship.
