Rick Santorum said Saturday in Michigan Mitt Romney's record in Massachusetts makes him "uniquely unqualified" to be the Republican standard-bearer. Santorum addressed an Americans for Prosperity forum in Troy, the Detroit Free Press reported. Romney was scheduled to speak in the same venue about 2 hours later. "Why would you vote for someone who gives away the most important issue in this race, and that's healthcare," Santorum said, referring to the health insurance plan Romney backed as Massachusetts governor. "Why would we nominate someone who is uniquely unqualified to take on the biggest issues of today?" The most recent polls show Romney has regained the lead before the Michigan primary Tuesday. Losing the state, where he was born and his father was a popular governor, would be embarrassing for Romney. Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, also said Romney's plan would tax the top 1 percent. "I never thought a Republican presidential candidate would adopt the verbage of Occupy Wall Street," he said. Santorum told the audience President Obama "just wants to remake you in his image."
