A Turkish policeman was killed and five others were injured during a counter-terrorism operation targeting militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Sırnak, Hurriyet reported Friday.
Security forces were conducting operations to fill in ditches and dissemble barricades in the Cizre district, which is under curfew, security sources said.
Police officers were hit by a rocket attack by militants during the operation, the sources added.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said security forces killed 3,100 Kurdish militants in 2015 and vowed no let-up in a relentless offensive to oust rebels from towns and mountains in the southeast.
He added that 200 members of the security forces had been killed, as well as an unspecified number of civilians.
