Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said ending extremist ideology is necessary to counter terror waves and their international funding sources.
In an editorial published by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, the Awqaf minister said some extremist groups provide religious sanctity to some of its leaders to control their followers.
Fighting extremist ideology has to be given priority for uprooting terror groups, he said.
