"China is confident about the European economy and backs European countries in tackling the global financial crisis and strengthening economic management," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said at a daily press briefing. As the EU's comprehensive strategic partner and major trading partner, China pays close attention to the economic situation of Europe, Liu said, noting that China has provided support and assistance to the EU and European countries. "China has enacted a series of measures to help the EU overcome its financial and debt crises and expanded cooperation with the EU in the areas of trade, investment and finance," Liu said.
