
Singapore's manufacturing output in October rose by 0.2 percent year on year, boosted by an expansion in the biomedical sector, the Economic Development Board said Wednesday.
The biomedical manufacturing cluster's output expanded 22.5 percent year on year in October. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the overall manufacturing output declined by 4.3 percent. The chemicals cluster's output grew 2.3 percent, led by the petrochemicals segment. Output of the precision engineering cluster increased 1.3 percent.
The electronics cluster contracted 6.1 percent. The general manufacturing industries cluster's output declined 3.3 percent.
Manufacturing accounts for about one fifth of Singapore's economy.
