Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) opened on a new destination to Najaf city, south Iraq, with its first flight landing at the airport of the city Wednesday night. The plane carried 100 passengers mainly visitors to holy sites in the city, Director of the Airport Mortadha Al-Mousawi told KUNA. Al-Moussawi welcomed the passengers, noting that KAC will be flying two flights to the airport a week. Meanwhile, KAC representative in Iraq Fahad Al-Rashidi voiced hope that the KAC flights will give momentum to the growth of the bilateral ties between Kuwait and Iraq. He said today's achievement is a culmination of joint efforts made over the last six months, adding that KAC chose Najaf as first destination to Iraq due to the safe atmospheres in the city as well as the prospects of tourism. Al-Rashidi expressed hope that new destinations to other Iraqi cities will be opened in the near future
